Brian Smiga is a Venture Partner and a Co-Founder of Alpha Partners and has been collaborating with Steve Brotman since 1998. At Alpha, he has spearheaded the growth of the firm’s team and its VC sourcing relationship network. Prior to Alpha, he was the founder and CEO of Preclick (sold to Smilebox), where he developed photo software licensed worldwide by HP, 3M, Sandisk, Walmart, Costco, CVS, and Walgreens.

Previous to Preclick, Brian was CEO at 3Path, an early Dropbox, an Intel and Goldman-Sachs backed startup, and served as the SVP of Marketing at 1ClickCharge, an early Bolt, where his product launch resulted in a sale of the company to CMGi. Brian is a principal inventor of six Natural Language Processing patents, and is a veteran of the Bay Area and San Francisco tech ecosystems.

Brian earned a BA in liberal arts from Swarthmore College and an MPhil in literature from Trinity College Dublin.
