Calcalist Tech recently reported on our expansion into Israel with the appointment of Gal Gitter, formerly of Ibex Investors, as Partner. The move marks a significant step for us as we continue to invest alongside venture capital firms to help early investors preserve their stakes as startups scale.
“Alpha sees about half of the US’s growth rounds per year and, with our VC partners, have the contractual ability to invest in about a quarter of these deals,” says Alpha Managing Partner, Steve Brotman. “Our pioneering VC partnership model enables us to pick what we believe to be the most promising companies globally at the growth stages, typically investing alongside the top VCs in the world. Historically, Israeli-founded companies account for 1 in 6 US tech unicorns. We are excited to formally launch our model in Israel, a country that we believe will continue generating some of the world’s most important tech companies.”
At Alpha, our unique model is unlike that of a traditional VC. Instead, we provide capital that allows early-stage funds to maintain their stakes in portfolio companies and avoid dilution at later stages. This approach has already fueled our partnerships with such Israeli-founded companies as Semperis, Zero Networks, Exodigo, and Vi Labs.
For Gitter, the expansion highlights Alpha’s collaborative ethos. “Alpha is one of the few firms purpose-built to collaborate with other funds rather than compete with them,” he says. “That ethos resonates in Israel, where early investors play a central role in helping companies launch but often can’t continue participating as those companies scale. By bringing Alpha’s model to Israel, we can empower early stage investors to continue their partnership with their portfolios’ top performers at the growth stages.”
Alpha has already completed multiple investments in Israeli-founded companies leveraging its partnership model, including cybersecurity firms Semperis and Zero Networks, underground mapping leader Exodigo, and AI/healthtech company Vi Labs. The firm’s Israel operations will be co-led by Managing Partner Steve Brotman and Israel-based Partner Gal Gitter, with Charlie Federman serving as a Venture Partner and Lior Avisar as a Venture Investor.
