Shield AI, an autonomous aviation company that builds AI pilots for military aircraft, is raising $2B at a $12.7B valuation — using part of the proceeds to acquire Aechelon, a software simulation company whose high-fidelity technology is how AI pilots train before live flight. The acquisition makes Aechelon core infrastructure for Hivemind, Shield AI's flagship AI pilot platform, and a strategically important addition as the company scales its X-BAT aircraft program.
